Before we get any farther, I’d like to state, for the record, that I do not care about your political beliefs, nor your thoughts about Vermont Senator and current Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders. So please do not use the comments section here as your own personal soap-box. Got it? Great!
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, an image of what appears to be a dead ringer for Senator Sanders behind the wheel of a pre-facelift Audi R8 V8 popped up on (of all places) 4chan yesterday. Naturally, this caused some parts of the internet to lose their collective minds. But because it originated on 4chan, we’ve got our doubts.
According to the original post, the R8 was spotted trailing behind “Bernie’s campaign vehicles.” While no images of those vehicles were included in the post, we assume this is referring to Sanders’ tour bus- the kind of place where an extremely busy 74 year old could rest and work, much better suited for such things than an R8. Is it impossible that Bernie would simply rather drive a bright red exotic with its engine inches behind his head, while rallying against income inequality to anyone within earshot? No, not really. But it’s the kind of thing Pepper Brooks would refer to as a “bold strategy.”
So, has Bernie traded in his “..small Chevy” for something more exciting? We strongly doubt it. But in an election season where facts have taken a nearly unprecedented back seat to the “good story”, this image certainly makes for one.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on Trump’s twitter feed for comment.
