When it comes to unobtanium for American Audi enthusiasts, the R8 LMX has to be near the top of the list. Coming to market as perhaps the ultimate first-generation R8, complete with 570hp, Audi’s LaserLight system, Carbon Ceramic brakes and Shell seats, the LMX showcased everything Audi had learned from their WEC efforts that could be legally applied to a road car. And they produced just 99 of them.
Recently, friend of the site Christian Langfeldt of Rushinroulette Photography was afforded some quality time with #30 of the 99 car run, and sent over a photoset from that day. As Americans who, as we stated earlier, can’t get our hands on one, we’re quite happy that Christian was able to set this shoot up, and send us his results.
Even though we couldn’t get the car, the legacy of Audi’s LMX lives on within the Audi exclusive order books. We personally know of quite a few Ara Blue cars running around (including the S Q5 found in our Waterfest booth) that took inspiration directly from the LMX, and can only assume that many more are on the way.
